The Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners invites all residents to Connect with Mecklenburg County by participating in the governing process.  The Board welcomes public comment and looks forward to hearing from you! Towards the beginning of every regular meeting, there is a section of the agenda called Public Appearance that provides time for the public to address the Board on subjects not appearing on the agenda.  The public may also address specific agenda items at the time the Board discusses them. Speakers will be given up to three (3) minutes each to speak. Speakers may not use their time for campaign purposes or make budget requests. Budget requests must be addressed at Budget Public Hearings which typically occur in January and May each year.  In 2025, they occur on January 22, 2025, and May 22, 2025.

Board of County Commissioners meetings are open to the public and the media.

Requirements to Speak to the Board:  Speakers requesting to address the Board of County Commissioners at their Regular Meeting must register to speak by 3:00 p.m. EST  ONLINE. After 3:00 p.m. you must register in person at the meeting location.  Remote speakers must provide an email when registering to speak, in order to receive the WebEx link to enter the meeting as a participant. 

FOR BUDGET PUBLIC HEARINGS:  The deadline for online registration for the January 22, 2025, Budget Public Hearing is January 21st at 5:00 p.m.  The deadline for online registration for the May 22, 2025, Budget Public Hearing is May 21st at 5:00 p.m.  After the online registrations close, members of the public may still register in person to speak when they arrive at the meeting/hearing. You are encouraged to sign up in advance, otherwise, your name will be placed at the end of the already existing list of speakers. Information will be provided to speakers on the day of meeting for those who have signed up to attend.
